Welcome to Prompt Goblins!
I’m glad to have you here, even if you’re just lurking.
My name is Mike (more about me in my intro post). I created this community to discuss anything and everything related to building with AI / AI Engineering - from hobby to professional level. I spend so much time learning and building that I wanted somewhere to post about what I’m working on and to discuss AI interests with like-minded people (or just talk to myself if no one else shows up - that’s fine too).
There are a lot of different communities around AI topics, but most are either focused on traditional machine learning or they’re product/tool specific. Or worse - they’re cringe “communities” led by grifters and fake experts.
There aren’t any real general (and genuine) community spaces for AI builders as far as I know. I’m hoping to help fill that void here.
I also find that the traditional web forum format is ideal for more technical topics. Things can get complex and the conversations typically generate so much valuable content for others to learn from that the long-form, asynchronous, indexable nature of forum discussions can’t be beat.
I’ve organized the categories here to be as flexible as possible, while still focusing the discussions enough to avoid complete chaos.
If you have suggestions or feedback on anything, just DM me.
Now the RULES:
- Everyone is welcome, even if you’re just starting to figure this stuff out and you need a lot of help. We have a whole beginner category for posting noob stuff here.
- If in doubt, use the beginner category.
- For others - if you post in the beginner category, please be helpful. We were all new once.
- Again - this is a community for people who build with AI, or those who want to learn. All skill levels are welcome, whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been on the leading edge of ML/AI for years. What matters is that you’re here to learn, build, and/or share real experience. We have zero tolerance for grifters, fake experts, and “AI thought leaders” who are just riding the hype wave. If you’re here to learn and build, you belong here. If you’re here to posture, this isn’t your spot.
- It’s okay to not know something - or to just know some of it or to only know from your own limited experience. Just be honest and be yourself. Keep all the cringe expert posturing and self promotion on Linkedin. We’d rather hear “I don’t know how this works - plz halp!” or “I’m not sure, but when I did it - here’s what worked for me.” than someone pretending they’re an authority on a subject they don’t fully comprehend.
- Be nice as much as possible. Feel free to debate and disagree, but don’t get into petty Internet fights here. Don’t make personal attacks because you disagree on something. If you get emotional about what someone says on the Internet (unless it’s your AI girlfriend), it’s best to leave the keyboard to try to cool off before responding (or just don’t respond at all).
- We encourage you to share what you’re working on or what you’ve built, but don’t just come here to spam your product(s) or you’ll get banned quick. There’s some nuance to this. If you’re proud of what you’re building and want to discuss the process, pop the hood and show us how it works, ask questions, answer questions, etc. - great. But if you just drive by to post about your product hoping to get users/customers - nah. If you do just want to promote a product, DM me to discuss options. We could always use some sponsors. The news distillation agent uses a ton of inference.
- No bots!!! I talk to AI non-stop all day. I don’t want to talk to bots here. Prompt Goblins is a human space =) This one is a bit nuanced though. Use of AI generated content within posts is fine, but in general, the overall interaction should be between humans. Examples of acceptable AI use:
- AI generated images, memes, etc. - of course, no problem.
- AI used for translating text
- AI generated content/outputs included in human created posts (if clearly not SPAM). Most obviously, this is an AI forum, so AI outputs will be shared frequently. But also other use of AI outputs is fine as well, example… someone may ask how you implemented something in your project > you ask your coding agent to explain (because why not? or maybe you vibe coded the shit out of it and don’t even understand how it actually works) > you post the coherent agent response within your reply to ensure you give the most accurate answer. Stuff like that.
- We also use some AI for summarization, spam detection, auto-tagging, maintenance or outage notifications, etc.
- What’s not okay: 1. bots creating posts without a human in the loop. 2. lazy copy and paste posts/replies with zero genuine human engagement. 3. SPAM of any kind.
If you see someone breaking the rules, please report it (report button under the post).
Thanks for being here!
